When my '83 '52 ri tele had the neck pickup go, i replaced it (in a hurry) with a gfs vintage type tele pickup. the only difference between the squier versions and theirs is that they use cloth wire, while the ones they sell to fender/squier have plastic covers. The tonerider pickups that come stock in squier telecasters are the greatest bargain in pickups that you can find. They wont come out soon, sounds fine to me.Rob Destefano winds excellent pu's himself, in a no-BS manner, check out Cavalier pickups for handmade cheap singlecoils and minihums.I ordered a Tele bridge pu from him on thursday, he made it Friday, and I had it Tuesday morning ,- on the other side of the planet ! Not the cheapest model with ceramic bar magnets, but slightly more expensive ones with a5 magnets. But, they are cheap, and many people like them I wouldnt say Toneriders arent mass produced, they are made in the same factory in China that makes CV Squiers. You will find a lot of the ones GFS sell under a different name, at an even cheaper price and without the stupid sales talk elsewhere YMMW.Īrtec makes a lot of different named pickups, many people like them. Omce you get to a certain quality of parts, many of them will sound almost similar to some people, some will hear a difference. At the end of the day, its just polepieces/mags with wire around them.
